Ass sprain? Seriously?

Aaaaannd - we’re back. I am typing this from my BRAND! NEW! MACHINE!, a 17″ MacBook Proh-my-god-it’s-so-pretty, which is so fast I may paint racing stripes on her. There is still a period of adjustment going on - I find the new keyboard problematic, and I misspell more often than I’d like. Also, many things did not survive the porting - lots of passwords, something called the “Microsoft Frame Library”, my copy of Final Draft 7 (SOB!). However, a bunch of photos that I forgot I had wound up on my drive, including these awesome ones of my (ex)cat Trixie:

Man, I miss that cat.

I have not yet named my new computer. Nothing seems to fit, and as much as I would love to name her “Cupcake” (much like I would like to name EVERYTHING Cupcake!), that does not seem to fit. She is too fast.. Hmm… something to ponder. Names are important.

In other news:
As they have said on their own blogs, Fraction and Kelly Sue are having some (unfortunate and sad) family time, and have left the homestead. This leaves me here on my own with the dogs. The first thing Claude did was eat one of my shoes. Fucker.
Is there such a thing as shoe insurance? For people with new puppies? And if not, why not?

Also in the news - I HAVE A NEW APARTMENT! It’s very exciting. 2 bedrooms, office, balcony, in a great neighborhood close to the DeFractions. Twice as big as my old place, and half the price. YAY, KCMO! I move in mid-April, once the landlord overhauls the space - ripping out the carpets, refinishing the hardwood floors, putting in a washer and dryer(!!!), patching the walls. I’m going to paint before I move in. It’s all terribly domestic. Oh, and? I CAN HAVE A DOG. Oh yes. Cupcake, here I come.

Ok, a thing my apartment doesn’t have? My palm trees:
Palm trees, Oakland
Those trees were out the window of every place I lived for the last 6 years. KCMO decidedly lacks palm trees. Otherwise? it’s awesome.

Things that are not awesome? The aforementioned ass sprain. Seriously, I think I sprained my ass. Believe me, I am as surprised as anyone. Especially since… well, I didn’t DO anything! I think I sprained my ass by SITTING on it! Ok, yes, there has been a lot of sitting - I have been mad behind on deadlines, and I have had a few 3-4am nights trying to catch up, which means I have been sitting for 14-18 hours at a (heh) stretch, but… can you sprain your ass from too much sitting? WTF, yo? To try and fix the ass sprain, I have upped my running and yoga. That’ll show my ass who’s boss.

My 17″ Macbook Pro is going to be here early next week (hopefully). I bought one in August and it broke down - four times. So I said, please don’t try to fix it, get me a new one. And they did.

I’ve become a huge apple geek this year, due to school. My younger brother just got a PC with Vista installed, and it’s fucking horrible. I’m so glad I made the switch.

I’ve done that. I think I sprained it sleeping. It’s horrible, because not only is it absolutely embarrassing and impossible to hide from others (so you constantly are forced to explain), but it’s fucking painful.

Congrats on the move and the establishing of new roots. May they be deep and strong.

Names for a new, fast computer:

You could give Celtx a try as a replacement for Final Draft if your feeling frisky, it’s free and available for OSX.

I am happy to hear that you’ve found a place, which sounds super awesome, by the way. Sad to hear about trixie, though I hope whoever’s got her is taking good care of her.
