Here’s my fist, where’s the fight?

A day of many and varied frustrations. Just… bullshit. I came home, antsy, and decided to throw on my shoes and iPod, grab the dogs and go for a run.
It was like God programmed my mixtape.
Right off the bat, Seven Nation Army. My favorite running song. Then after that, it was like every song was put there just to make me feel better. Faster. Less self-pity, a little more purpose and gratitude. God bless you, endorphins. I broke the 11 min mile (10:32! Woo!), and just ran… smooth. Effortlessly. Ok, not like, EFFORTLESS effortless, but… good.

So, imma share the happy. I am going to list lyrics from each of the songs that came up on my run. Name 8 out of 10, and I will send you a set of the Adventure Girl cards. Gratis!

Woo! Pirate!

OK - GO!:

“Now, Mary what are you thinking?
Mary, when will you learn?”

“Life’s complications and frustrations
They disappear when the music starts playing”

“Hell is breaking loose, she says i don’t mind (don’t mind)
She’s got new things to take up her time”

“Our slate is clean
Say what you mean”

“All the bridges gonna burn gonna fall down
Burn it down it’s so hot it’s so hot hot”

“Cause I got the trash and you got the cash
So baby we should get along fine”

“i wish i could buy back
the woman you stole”

“You’re beating walls now you just won’t quit
You play with shapes but they just won’t fit”

“All these bands and all these people
All these friends and we were equals”

“You wanna throw me away but I’m not broken
You’ve got a lot to say–well, I’m not joking”

(Special super thanks to Han, who is totally disqualified since he made my running mix. Which is still awesome. And I could totally use a new one. Hint hint.)

(Wow, does this mean that Han is God? Huh. We’re all doomed.)

It’s not 8 but it was the best I could do. I already have some of those cool cards so I don’t feel too bad.

I often find myself with lots of windshield time and in more than a few of the places I travel to, the only radio worth listening to is either college stations or XM (car rentals).

With the exception of Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson, you ain’t gonna hear this stuff on JACK format radio stations. And I like a lot of this stuff so I hafta listen to these other stations.

For instance, I discovered The Thermals while in doing work in Portland a short time ago…very interesting stuff.

“…very interesting stuff” = I can’t play it for my 7 year old niece.

I just re-read this entry and it hit me again that you broke the 11 minute barrier. Damn! Good for you, Laurenn.

I’m working on breaking the 20 minute mile…or something like that.

Forgot to add: did not Google…not sure how you would in this case without the name of the band…I’m not that smart. I’m old, square but I like lots of music and I’m not that smart.

Also: When/How/Will You sell any of your artwork? There were some pieces from a long time ago that you posted that were really good. If they ever go on sale, PLEASE let us know.

    Thanks much.

    I’ll hush now.
