I’m cooking a lot more - I made the World’s Worst Cupcakes for my friend Maggie’s birthday recently, and I am willing to give it another try. Nikol, who is super awesome, has been encouraging my new kitchen obsession - she sent me a bunch of cute kitchen utensils, and for my birthday sent me a great cookbook - Dewey referred to it as the “Quit Bugging Me About Cooking” cookbook, but I don’t think that’s what it was… was it? Uh oh.

Kelly Sue has been helping with the kitchen obsession as well - she and Fraction got me GIANT salt and pepper grinders for my birthday. Seriously? GIANT. Like, bigger than my dog. Ok, my dog is kind of small, but still - GIANT!

Things I have been thinking about:

Also thinking a lot about Twitter - just kind of thinking about why I use it. Some people have called it vain, posting all day about the minutia of your life, but I like what this guy had to say about it. I think I like it because of the minutia - it makes me feel much closer to friends of mine who are far away. Hell, even to Kel, and she lives like 5 blocks away. A friend of mine once told me that he thought dogs barking was just them signalling “Hey, I’m over here! Are you over there? I’m over here!” and I think Twitter fulfills a similar thing in me. Hey, peeps - I’m over here.

Also, thinking about my (aformentioned) Birthday. (I know, shameless, right?) But yeah, birthday on Wednesday - 39 years old. Holy crap. In celebration of my birthday, I had a small but delightful party on Sat., and as a result, I have eaten a lot of cake recently. One was made by my friend Magpie (with a skull on it!) and one amazingly delicious one from Costco (which seems crazy that you would get delicious cake from Costco, but it was AWESOME). I think I am going to try and eat as much cake as possible between now and Actual Birthday Day. I had cake for breakfast. It was lovely.
