Snowpe

The weather has turned nasty here in KCMO - not quite snow, not quite ice, and 19 degrees. What the lovely weather people are calling a “Wintery Mix”, which sounds like a drink. What would be in a Wintery Mix? Vodka and something… hmm.

Keeping me warm are a couple of good news-y things - the first and most wonderful is that my almost-brother-in-law Pat Spurgeon (the drummer for Rogue Wave, in case you have been living in a cave for the last year, what with my proclaiming my love for Pat and Rogue Wave every three seconds), anyways, my sister just called to tell me that he is in surgery RIGHT NOW, getting a new kidney. He was on the donor list, and was originally told that it would be a 6 year wait. However, someone died (which is very sad, but thank god they were an organ donor!), and he was a perfect match, and in the area. So, he went to the hospital at 3 am, and is still in surgery. I am thinking awesome healthy thoughts at him and my sister. I am so thrilled about this I can barely believe it. YAY, SCIENCE!

In other good news that has less to do with the miracle of medicine and more to do with my cool friends - Nikol Lohr’s book, Naughty Needles has come out, and I got my hands on a copy yesterday. So cute! So amazing! So many awesome projects! There’s stuff like corsets and ball gags and garters and stockings and the like - I was one of the models, and originally I was supposed to model a corset. However, when I showed up, Nikol held up a pasties-and-g-string set and said “wanna wear this?”. So, yeah… there are pictures of my pale ass in VERY VERY LITTLE, floating around out there. Thank GOD that the pic that she ended up using in the book is far more modest - I am blocked by another model, and you cannot tell my level of nakedness. Sorry to disappoint you, internets. There are other half-naked girls in the book, so you should still check it out. Plus, knitting!

In other news? Well, if you have been paying attention, you will note that I said that I am still in KCMO. It turns out that I am going to be making this a permanent situation - I am moving here on March 1. I have to go home at the end of January and pack my stuff, as well as tie up some work-based loose ends, but then, I get in a car and head on out. It feels good - I have been wanting to be out here for a while, and this seems like a really good time to make a major change in my life. Imma miss the Bay Area, but I don’t think this means I’ll never see it again. It’s just time to do something new, y’know?

I hope you have fun and fun and fun! It will be hard to leave your sister but other than that how awesome to have a new venue, esp. as an artist!

I’m totally ok with you moving to KCMO, especially if it means more pics of you and the deFractions…. (which I’m totally holding you to, dude).

Feel better my pretty, and let us all know how Pat’s recovery comes along.

Congratulations on the move and Pat’s recovery. I haven’t checked your blog in a while, and it looks like you’ve been busy. Good luck with everything.

Glad to know that Pat’s on the path to health, and doubly glad to know that you’re joining in on the vibrant KCMO art/culture scene. Very, very cool!
