“Some way to greet the year…”

Happy New Year, y’all. 2006, I am glad to be shut of you. 2007 has got to be better. I am going to insist on this.

On your left, my recently completed mural for the Port of Oakland. It’s at Port View Park, which is way out in the middle of nowhere, practically tucked under the bridge. Great view of the cranes, so hence the crane ponies. Plus, Fraction put the idea in my head, and I have never been able to get it out. Big ups to everyone who helped - could not have finished without you.

I am in KCMO, and Miss Kelly Suzanne is prodding me to complete an Uberlist (Nikol’s big year-long to-do list), so that may show up here at some point. It would be nice to have, if not a plan, at least some suggestions. I have no roadmap. To continue to reach for metaphores, I feel like an just-taken Polaroid right now - stuff is going to slowly become clearer, but right now it just looks black. So, I am shaking it, waiting to see what develops.

Man - do you ever feel like you can see metaphores in everything? The curse of self-examination, I guess. Everything is a sign or a portent. When this happens, it is a sign - a sign that everything is not all about you, and perhaps you need to stop taking everthing so fucking seriously. Lighten up, McCubbin.

I always say that my life is best summed up by (how predictable) a Kylie Minogue lyric: “Think you are, but you think too much.” The amount of overthinking of anything and everything (complete with metaphores and portents) is staggering at this end, believe you me.

[…] How’d you do on your uberlist? I haven’t tallied last year’s yet, but I have started a draft of 107 for 2007. I’m up to 72, I think? Lots of action at Uberlist Central this time of year. There’s also a thread for Uberlists over at the Disgruntled Housewife Country Club. I’m bullying McCubbin into playing along. […]

The mural is beautiful.I’d heard you describe it, but to finally see it is nice. Happy New Year. Love from Vegas.
