This artist paints on human skin, these amazing Chinese landscapes that are, by the nature of the material he uses, ephemeral. Something about that just really appeals to me right now - transient, but substantial. Landscapes are these solid, serious subjects, real artistic staples, and here this guy is, turning the idea of the landscape upside-down. He is even working in a very traditionally Chinese way, brushwork and composition, palette, and again, he is just turning the concept upside down. He is making this… like, it’s a zen koan of a painting. I like art. Happy Easter. |
